EnkaGrid™ MAX C - Bonded Geogrid / Geotextile Composite

When constructing roads, railways, or working platforms on soft, unstable ground, keeping the surface stable and resistant to movement is a major challenge. EnkaGrid™ geogrids are the answer to this problem, providing a powerful, proven reinforcement system that helps to prevent ground deformation and ensure your structure can bear heavy loads.

Preferred by designers and contractors around the world, EnkaGrid™ enhances the performance of the base material beneath your project and extends the life of the finished structure.

What is EnkaGrid™?

EnkaGrid™ is a family of high-performance geogrids and geocomposites, including MAX, MAX C, and TRC variants. Used to reinforce subgrades beneath roads, railways, and working platforms, it provides a highly effective and cost-efficient alternative to traditional ground and soil reinforcement methods, like deep soil replacement or piling.

EnkaGrid™ reinforces the ground by locking into the sub-base beneath your structure. This locking effect allows the geogrid to transfer strength to the ground, preventing the soil from shifting and spreading, and making it more resistant to high weights and the forces of traffic.

Available in widths up to five metres for easy installation, EnkaGrid™ can also reduce the required thickness of the base material, leading to cost and CO2 savings.

For challenging environments, the MAX C version includes a fleece for separation and filtration, while the TRC offers exceptional strength for high-stress environments.

Whether your project is permanent or temporary, EnkaGrid™ delivers the strength needed to reduce differential settlement and stabilise the ground. Its unique production technology ensures consistent stress-strain performance throughout the matrix, assuring you of its reliable, long-term durability.

Why EnkaGrid™?

Your EnkaGrid™ Questions Answered

It is suitable for use in both

It’s fast and cost effective, and avoids excavation and muck-away, and then import and placement.

Subject to site-specific assessment and solution design, yes.

The design life is 100 years to Annex B of the applicable application standard. If the reinforcement solution is designed and installed correctly, the system will perform as expected throughout the solution design life.

EnkaGrid MAX on its own, no, however, EnkaGrid MAX C, potentially. By incorporating the geotextile, this prevents the movement of fine upwards out of the formation layer and into the aggregate layer. So, if that layer is Type 3 drainage stone (or similar), it will prevent this mixing, thereby maintaining the flow capacity of the drainage aggregate.

Yes. A geogrid reinforced platform will provide a CO2e reduction of at least 20% compared to an unreinforced platform.

Yes

If the formation conditions are as reported to us, and the solution is designed and installed correctly, the system will perform as expected. If it does “fail”, then there must have been an error in one of these factors.

Engineered Stiffness for Long-Term Stability

EnkaGrid™ geogrids are fundamentally designed to absorb tensile and shear forces originating from traffic and high surface loads. When installed in the sub-base, the geogrid apertures mechanically interlock with the granular base course, preventing the lateral spreading of particles that typically leads to rutting and deterioration in road and rail structures. This interlocking effect delivers tensile stiffness to the entire sub-base layer, inhibiting deformation and significantly extending the service life of the finished structure.

For extremely weak subgrades, particularly when building working platforms, the high radial stiffness of the EnkaGrid™’s ground reinforcement products reduces shear stresses and enhances load-bearing capacity.

  • The EnkaGrid™ TRC is specifically used when creep deformation must be avoided, employing an aramid fibre grid for its exceptional strength and stiffness.
  • The MAX C variant incorporates a filter fleece to provide long-term filtration stability and prevent the migration of fine particles (pumping of fines) from the subsoil up into the base course, an important factor for cost-efficient platform design.

The TRC offers high stiffness at exceptionally low strain, making it ideal for high-stress applications
