Delivering cost-effective ground reinforcement for residential development

The project faced significant ground engineering challenges that required innovative solutions to create a stable 3-metre roadway. The site conditions presented multiple complexities:

Poor ground conditions: CBR testing revealed sandy soils with only 3% bearing capacity, indicating low cohesion and potential stability issues under heavy loads. Sandy soils, whilst offering good drainage, lack the structural integrity needed for construction traffic.

Heavy construction loading: The roadway needed to withstand maximum loading of 32 tonnes with 40 construction vehicles during the build phase, followed by domestic vehicle use for ongoing operations.

Material constraints: The client had 400 tonnes of site-won crushed concrete and house brick available, requiring a solution that could effectively utilise this existing aggregate rather than importing new materials.

The project exemplifies our commitment to:

  • Sustainable construction practices through innovative material reuse
  • Cost-effective engineering solutions delivering 50% cost savings
  • Technical excellence with comprehensive design support
  • Flexible product options including multiple panel width configurations

Our Cellweb® Wide system proves that challenging ground conditions and material constraints can become opportunities for innovative, cost-effective solutions. When your project demands both technical performance and environmental responsibility, Geosynthetics Ltd delivers engineered solutions that exceed expectations.
