Introducing Harry

Introducing our second “Employability Scheme” student

Geosynthetics Ltd would like to introduce you to our second “Employability Scheme” student Harry.

Harry is a student at Dorothy Goodman School and is spending the current term completing a specifically designed work placement with our Company

This is a 12 week placement and as well as gaining new skills by the end of it Harry will have achieved his AIMs qualification in Business Admin and Customer service.

This work experience opportunity has been developed through our close working links with Dorothy Goodman School, our Enterprise Advisor and Leicester & @Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership.

This initiative is intended to give Dorothy Goodman Students the opportunity to gain skills and qualifications in a working environment which is crucial for their futures when they leave school. It also gives them the opportunity to learn and develop new life and work skills.

Harry has been a great help to the team and has been very quick in getting the hang of his duties assigned to him which include stationery checks and orders, shredding, order confirmations, post, document printing, communication emails to suppliers and much more.

We asked Harry a few questions to find out a little more about him and how he felt about his opportunity.

  1. What do you want to do when you’re older?

I want to work in a Lego shop because young kids and adults love Lego and I want to share creativity. As I am a collector of Lego and I have fun building and making things. I really enjoy the creative aspect of this.

  1. What do you want to get out of this placement?

I really want to learn some new skills that will help me in a professional environment. I love learning new things. I also like meeting new people in the work environment and having a chat so that’s one thing I look forward each day with Geosynthetics Ltd.

  1. What do you enjoy the most about what you do with Geosynthetics Ltd?

I like doing the shredding which I get off all my colleagues that I work with at Geosynthetics and the TR filing which I get off the engineers, both of these tasks are quite enjoyable and give me a break from the computer-based tasks.

  1. How would you describe yourself?

I’m always Happy and you’ll always catch me with a smile on my face. I’d also like to think I’m quite funny… at least sometimes.

  1. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy going out with my friends to the pub, mainly the baron which is a local pub to me, and having some drinks as well as a good catch up. Another thing is playing PS4 or going to the cinema the latest film I enjoyed was the Joker I’d highly recommend seeing it.

  1. What is your favourite film?

Avenger’s end game is my favourite film of all time because it has all the characters that I’ve grown up watching in it. The film has some really funny parts but the ending is very sad and I nearly cried.

  1. What is your favourite meal and where is the best place to eat it?

It’s got to just be a classic Burger King, I love the bacon king jr.

  1. If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

To teleport anywhere in the world so I can travel more.  I would like to go back to Florida I went last year with my family and I loved it.

Harry has already become a part of the team and we can’t wait to see his skills develop throughout his time with Geosynthetics Ltd.
