Tom’s Goodbye

Last week Geosynthetics Ltd had to say farewell to our very first “Employability Scheme” student Tom.

Tom is a student at the Dorothy Goodman School and has spent the last term completing a specifically designed work placement with our Company. The placement lasted twelve weeks and as well as gaining many new skills by the end of it Tom also achieved an AIM qualification in Business Admin and Customer Service.

Tom made a great addition to the company, was an amazing help to the team and we were all very sad to see him go. However, the motivation behind this new initiative is to provide ongoing opportunities for multiple Dorothy Goodman Students to gain skills and qualifications in a working environment, which is crucial for their lives and career progression after leaving school.

Sadly, in order to give other students the opportunity to learn and develop new life and work skills we therefore had to say goodbye to Tom but will be welcoming our next student Harry in the New Year.

To celebrate Toms achievements the company hosted a lunch of domino’s pizza and sandwiches in the office to give us all the chance to reflect, talk and say goodbye.

To recognise the end of his placement Tom had prepared a presentation for the whole company on his experience which he delivered excellently, displaying great confidence.

The day ended with Tom being thanked for all the hard work he had put into his time here, presented with a certificate and because it is a passion of Toms, he then led us in a truly memorable rendition of some popular Christmas Carols.

We wish Tom all the best for his future endeavours and hope this experience will help him in the years to come.
