Eddie Emblen – Company Introduction

Eddie has recently joined the team as our new Technical Manager. Eddie will be working closely with sales and engineering and will be focusing on our housing development projects. While holding a strong connection with the internal sales team Eddie will be mainly based externally, visiting customers and sites throughout the UK offering technical solutions and advice.

What experience/education do you have in the industry?

Having graduated in Civil Engineering from Portsmouth University I worked in an engineering consultancy for 7 years before moving into the field of geosynthetics, where I have worked ever since. The knowledge and experience I have gained working with geosynthetic products for over 15 years has enabled me to see the many and varied ways that geosynthetics can benefit Civil Engineering schemes – whether that be by aiding the development of a challenging site, saving the project time and money, or often a combination of both.

How would you describe yourself?

I am personable and hardworking and enjoy working either individually or as part of a team. I enjoy the mixture of the technical and commercial aspects required to find the correct solution for a particular site.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I enjoy going out to meet a wide variety of people in the Civil Engineering industry, listening to them about the issues they have on their site and then working with them to create a cost effective and buildable geosynthetic solution – that they may not have been aware existed previously. By building relationships in this way, customers become educated in the possible solutions, value your support and will return in the future when they move onto their next scheme.

What made you join Geosynthetics Ltd?

I liked the fact that Geosynthetics Ltd stock a complete range of geosynthetics products which enable them to provide the most technically appropriate and best value solutions to their customers. I also like the way they use their Engineering department to provide technical advice and add value. My role will enable me to promote the company’s capabilities to new and existing clients. The internal team are very supportive of each other and work closely to ensure the success of the business continues.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work I like to keep fit and active to negate the effect of having both sweet and savoury teeth.  I enjoy taking my dogs for walks in the country and I am also a keen cyclist, riding regularly with 2 local clubs.  My other passion is skiing I love the exhilaration, freedom and mountain scenery it provides.
